There was only one cat in this messed up place that the tom-kit had a hint of respect to, other than his mother. It was the clan deputy, Moondust. He had no reason in particular why, other than she was his older sister, and to him, family was the only important relationship in life.
He remembered hearing that the warriors' den was where the deputy slumbered, and he managed to escape the maternal paws of the queens, especially of Ivystripe's, and the annoying bundle of fur known as Sorrelkit. They were just all boring, and everything in the nursery was too repetitive to him. Perhaps the warriors' den would be different?
So he took in the smell of the much larger den stepping in, and it reeked. Just smelling other cats was disgusting. It was like if something recently died in here. How lazy were the warriors anyways?
Once he saw the coat of the cat he was searching for, he made his way over, casually stepping around the large heaps of bodies, and eventually reached the deputy. He knew it was late, but he was bored, and a bored kitten was not pleasant.
"Uhh, Moondust?" he questioned, wondering if she was still awake.

Moondust was half awake when she heard her name. "Yes, Heronkit?" She meowed, cracking both blue eyes.

"What did it feel like becoming an apprentice?" he pondered. "Because I know that I am still pretty young and have a few moons to go," he shuffled his paws, knowing that Moondust probably wanted to go back to her slumber, but he wanted her here. With him.

Amazing. You feel so... Responsible." She answered, lifting her head. "Your apprenticeship may be a few moons away, but it will be here before you know it. Plus, I might be your mentor." Moondust finished, purring at her young sibling.

Moondust. Possibly mentoring him. Wow. Was that really possible? He purred by the idea of that, batting his sister's chin, expecting to reach her nose.
"I do think that I am quite responsible right now." he commented, ruffling his chest fur. He wanted to be big and strong now. He wanted to be older and wiser. He wanted to know the feeling of hunting, and running, and fighting. He wanted the whole warrior package.

You are very responsible. You know what..." Moondust meowed, then finished. "If Icestar grants us permission, I might be able to take you out of camp a few yards." Moondust sneezed as her brothers paw swiped her nose. Playfully, Moondust pushed the kit over and held him down ever so lightly with a paw.

Really? To go out a couple yards meant the world to the tom-kit.
"I'll make sure that our enemies don't hurt us." he vowed, smiling larger than ever. If anything was going to harm his clan, it was going to be him who got hurt and no one else.
"What's out there though?" he pondered, trying to flee her powerful paw.

Moondust lifted her paw, allowing Herronkit to get up. "Lots of things. The wild is out there." She answered, eyes gleaming with the light of adventure.
(My dad is snoring again! He sounds like the dryer.)

Moondust rested her head back down on her paws, letting out a ginormis yawn. She then wrapped a paw around Herronkit and drew him to her side, providing warmth. "First thing tomorrow morning, i'll ask. Goodnight." Moondust meowed, eyes closing and she was then taken into a black wave of a merceless nightmare.
(Its 1:12 a.m. here... But will stay up till 1:45)
